Zilker Tree Lighting 2010

Tonight we went to the Annual Zilker Tree lighting.  I have lived in Austin for over 10 years now and have yet to go to a Zilker Tree lighting and since we went to the Capitol Tree lighting last year I told John we must go to Zilker this year.
My mother and father-in-law, brother-in-law and his family met us down there.  It was a little chilly but we took blankets, hats and jackets to keep warm.  Once we were down there we got in the middle of all the body heat of others and it surprisingly was warm, plus the cool breeze that once was there had stopped.  It was also nice because within 15 minutes of the ceremony they lit the tree so they didn't "drag" it out like the Capitol Tree lighting.  There was SO much food.  We had funnel cake and took home a huge bag of kettle corn which I am sure we will be eating on a daily basis until it is gone!  They also had tamales there but we didn't feel like spending $2 per tamale!! So we bought some from a restaurant on our way home.  The in-laws had bought some tamales while there and said they were not that great so I am glad we didn't buy any!!
Enjoy the pictures!

Mall Christmas Fun

John had a busy day today so it was just me and the boys!  So we took off and went to the Malls!!  Yes I said Malls plural!!  We went to the Galleria to take a few pictures and then we were off the the Domain for a horse drawn carriage ride.  The Domain has free buggy rides on Friday and Saturdays with fireworks on Saturdays.  I took my two handsome boys on a horse ride.  We had a blast, here are a few pictures from our day.
This is from the Galleria, I love the Galleria especially at Christmas time.

This is from the Domain.

He took our picture!

We had so much fun and the boys were so tired and ready for bed when we got home!

StoryTeller

My Nicho bear has been quite the storyteller these last few weeks.  He tells me EVERYTHING that goes on at school when I put him to bed at night,
I LOVE IT!!
It's very rare (especially for boys) for parents to get anything out of their child when asked about their day at school but Nicho tells me every single detail that happened that day.
He told me the other night that he and Max (his best bud) were pulling the wagon outside on the playground.  Then the other kids wanted a ride so then he and Max took turns and gave their friends a wagon ride.  Then Ms. Meena read a story and he ate all of his pita bread at snack time.
I looked on the snack calendar after I put him to bed to see if it was true that they had a pita bread for snack that day and he was right!  They DID have pita bread with hummus.
So I look forward every night so I can get the low down of what happened that day!
I am planning on a mommy/Nicho day soon and I cannot wait!

Awesome Big Brother!

My Nicho bear has been the best brother ever these last few weeks.  Before Noah started crawling he would not really interact as much with him but when Noah started crawling Nicho started to show some interest.  Noah at 9 months, is when Nicho really started playing with him because that is when Noah started standing and "talking" more to Nicho. The two of them together make me laugh all the time.  Nicho will do something funny and make Noah laugh and then I will hear the two of them giggling for minutes at a time, LOVE IT!!
To an AWESOME BIG BROTHER!

Happy Birthday Granny!

Happy Birthday to you Granny Olga!  We are so grateful that you take care of us and love you so much!!
Love,
 Nicho and Noah

Winter Break Has Begun!

At least for Nicho...his last day was today.  The Lab School lets out early so that the students can study for finals.  The room mom organized playdates while the kids are out of school.  We have tons of playdates scheduled twice a week beginning next week until school starts back up again in mid January.
Ms. Meena gave each children a bag filled with note pads, a highlighter, homeade playdough and a note.
Here is the note that Ms. Meena wrote to Nicho:

Here he is putting stickers that his Granny bought him on the notepad, he LOVES stickers!

I am ready for my winter break to begin so I can join in on some fun activities with him!
