"All Done"

My Boa has always been very observant of everything. John and I have been using sign language with him for a while now and he is now starting to sign back. Usually when we are finished feeding him we do the sign for "all done" and he then will usually start to cry because he loves to eat and doesn't want to stop. My mom was feeding him the other day when he started to turn his wrist and move his mouth away from the spoon. My mom didn't know what he was doing with his wrist until I told her he was telling her he was "all done." My mom laughed and now watches for when he does use his sign language. He is such a cutie and is mimicking everything we do especially big brother.

Listen Up Brother

The other day when I was helping John with breakfast I heard Nicho talking to someone so I went to look and saw him sitting in his Mickey rocking chair reading to Noah.  It was the cutest thing ever!
Nicho is really into books right now and it seems like I read tons before bedtime.  Last night he handed me Love You Forever by Robert Munsch and he was repeating it with me, love it! He follows the words from left to right with his index finger too!
Update on school:  Nicho is doing well and loves it, he has met new friends and comes home talking about them including Ms. Meena.  The highlight of Nicho's day is getting picked up by daddy from school!  He loves it when daddy picks him up.  John gets there usually 5 minutes before they unlock the doors and while he waits he watches the class in the observation booth.  It's a place where parents can watch and observe their children at anytime they wish and the children cannot see you, I love this!!
Nicho also got his first birthday e-vite the other day from a school pal, the party is in November.  I thought that was really soon to get a birthday invite but then I realized we are almost done with September! Yikes!!

Brothers

The other day I was in the kitchen when Nicho shouted "Mommy look! A goldfish!" I turned around and saw this...

aaaahhh brothers :)

I'm 8 Months Old Now!

My Boa has somehow turned 8 months! This first year is really sneaking up on me.  We are enjoying watching him grow and it is amazing to watch him learn and do new things each day.  The other day I set him in his bouncy chair (why I did, I have no idea) because we still have it and have yet to get rid of it.  Anyway I set him in it because I wanted to grab something out of the dryer and so I thought he would be "safe" if I just put him in it for a minute.  I was wrong.  When I came back to get him he had completely wiggled out of his seatbelt and was standing up facing the other direction about to jump out (or fall) !  Silly boy! Needless to say the bouncy chair is on it's way out of the house.  The boy is everywhere, the in-laws have completely rearranged their house so that he has his own corral to crawl and stand.  He has been using everything and anything to stand.  The other day he was trying to stand up on his own, I'm really in trouble if this is the case.
His favorite foods are: banana w/ avacado (he has learned to love these two), canteloupe w/broccoli , sweet potato w/yogurt, zucchini, pear, peaches, applesauce (his absolute favorite) and of course he loves his puffs.  We are going to try spinach this week.
In the mornings on the drive to Granny's house Nicho and Noah both smile, giggle and laugh at each other, I love to watch Noah "talk" to Nicho.  No check up this month however I weighed myself with him and he weighs 17 pounds according to our scale.
Some other informative stuff about Noah at 8 months: the boy cannot stand a dirty diaper.  He will let you know how mad he is until you change him.  As soon as he sees anyone with food he lets you know he wants food too!
Noah got his first boo-boo this month :(  He loves big brother even though big brother can do some silly stuff to him but that's what big brothers are for :)  Mommy and Daddy are having an awesome time watching him grow.

He also tried the teething biscuits this month and loves them! They are really messy though!

Happy Grandparent's Day

Growing up my brothers and I always made a card and made sure to call my Grandma on Grandparent's day.  So to keep tradition the boys made a card for their Grandparents.  I want to wish my mom and in-laws a very Happy Grandparent's Day.  They do so much for us and are very much appreciated.  We love you.

Noah and the Puzzle

Yesterday evening Noah was playing on the floor and became interested in big brother's old wooden transportation puzzle.  We started playing with it so he could hear the sounds which he loved!  I think he is going to love puzzles just like Bear started at a young age.
Unfortunately he leaned in too close, fell forward and did a face plant into the puzzle and now he has his first boo boo. Right under his right eye...grrr.
Poor guy, he only cried for less than a minute.  He may be small but he sure is a tough little guy! On a positive note, Noah has learned how to clap! It is too cute! I tried to video it but of course he saw the camera and stopped.  I will try to catch my little seal when he does it again!

Happy Labor Day

Today we went to the YMCA Splash Bash.  There were tons of people there because it was also open to the public who were not members to celebrate the grand opening of the new outdoor pool and newly renovated gym.  It looks so awesome!  We took a tour of the new place and the hubby and I are looking at taking a fitness class together on the weekend because my Boa is old enough to go to the child watch now!  I also saw 2 exercise classes that alternate M-Th that I am interested in taking in the evenings, can't wait!
Mommy and Nicho braved the pool and crowd while daddy and Noah sat under the pavillion with Uncle Paul and chit chatted.
I think we will be spending lots of time here on the weekends when we don't have anything else planned :)

Mommy and Me Monday

WOW! I haven't done one of these in FOREVER!  This is from Saturday when we met some family at the "OG."

These two are my world! I just adore them!
I hope everyone is having a relaxing and wonderful Labor Day holiday.

Meeting Minnesota Family

Today we met my in-laws and some of John's extended family from Minnesota at the Olive Garden for an early dinner.  John's cousin Sarah moved to Austin last week and we are thrilled to have her here.  After our dinner we went to the park and let the kiddos run around and Nicho had a blast.
Here is my little Peanut at dinner.  Everyone thought he was just adorable, I had to agree of course.
He was really trying to figure out this coloring thing.
Nicho and cousin Sophia had so much fun running up and down these hills.  Granny is in the background watching.
Then he spotted a train and had to stop and watch which was nice because running after him for 10 minutes non-stop was a workout especially in non work out clothes!
Then he finally got tired and posed for a picture with cousin Justin.
The three Herrera boys

We also spotted this huge turtle swimming in the pond below.
My Boa and me, Nicho does not like taking many pictures these days so I get what I can when I can!
After our fun evening we had to stop by Sandy's of course for ice cream!
