Ahhh...the beginning of the race

Someone decked out their stroller...it was a Ferrari!

After the race
Nicky and I
The boys minus Nicho...he fell asleep during the walk

Today we met the Peden's downtown and walked the Capitol 10k (6.2 miles) together. It was nice talking and watching all of the people in creative yet silly costumes. It was kind of weird not running it though but it was a nice break! We had a great time.

Funny Pictures

Shopping trip to H-E-B

Dancing in the shopping cart...yay the bread is on sale!!

SHHH...I'm hunting Cowgirls. (We got this cute shirt at the fair and Rodeo)

Hello Mr. Easter Bunny

(This picture is from our camera...he was looking down)
Today we took Nicho to visit the Easter Bunny at the Mall. When Nicho first saw the bunny he refused to get out of his stroller. Mommy had to go make friends with the bunny first. I shook his hand and told Nicho what a nice bunny he was, I gave bunny a high five and Nicho started to let up a bit. We let the other children in line go first and we watched for about 5 minutes. Nicho decided he wanted out of his stroller and then wanted to say hi to the bunny. I had to hold bear back because the bunny was taking a picture with another child. When they were finished taking the picture Nicho ran up to the bunny. He was so excited!!

Mr. Chatterbox

This past week I have noticed Nicho "talking" alot more than the usual jabber. He understands so much it is SO nice!! Yesterday he was playing with a block and he came up to me, I asked him what he was doing and he said "this is a block" I was in shock. He said it again when I asked him again what it was. He was looking at a die cut of a brown bunny on the wall and one of the teachers at school also said she heard him say "bunny is brown". He said Ms. Laura's name as well this week, I am so amazed!! My little boy isn't a baby anymore :(

Fair and Rodeo Fun

Nicho's first carnival ride :) Giovanni is sitting in front of us.
Farmer Bear
He really liked feeding and petting the animals, he even hugged the deer :)
Pony Ride
Last Sunday we met the Peden's at the Fair and Rodeo for some last minute fun before heading back to school on Monday. We had a blast, there was so much to do even for Nicho. He even rode two (small) carnival rides, of course he wasn't tall enough so mommy had to ride with him. We got to see Giovanni compete in his first kid's barrel race, that was so exciting!

Practice makes perfect

Last Saturday we practiced going potty with Nicho. I put some undies on him and he stayed dry for 2 hours. We visited the potty every 10-15 minutes or so but he just sat and stared. I sang songs and read to him but still no pee pee or poop. We were on our way out to run errands so he got his diaper put back on but I had to snap some pictures of him because he looked way too cute!!

Oh no, not nap time!

Nicho bear has been resisting nap time this past week. We are so off schedule due to Spring Break and being out of school so when we have been out and about he has been falling asleep in the car and therefore I just transfer him to his crib for nap. Normally I can put him down in his room with no problem, I just give him his paci and shut the door and he is asleep within 5 minutes, same with bed time. This past week he has been trying to test us...everyday. Today I tried to put him in his crib and he screamed and kicked. When I gave him his paci, he threw it out of his crib! I didn't know what to do but secretly laugh. I got an idea and put in a Kenny G cd (he carries this cd around often...I don't know why) and he calmed down. John and I could not stop laughing at how quickly his attitude had changed. John went to check in on him and Nicho put his finger to his mouth telling John to "shhh", it was so funny!! I just went in to check in on him and voila he is asleep. We just love Kenny G.

Recap of Our Week

Spring Break is almost over but we had a great week! Our favorite things this week:

1. Meeting the Peden's every morning at Lady Bird Lake for a 3 mile walk and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
2. Story time at the Library, we got to listen to a cute puppet show of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", Nicho sat through the entire show and got a bear stamp afterwards on his hand :)
3. The Imax
4. Austin Duck Adventures
5. Going shoe shopping at the Galleria with Mawmaw.

We also LOVED sleeping in!!! In case you are wondering...Nicho did sit on the potty once this week...yea we didn't practice that much. We will try and work on it slowly.

Austin Duck Adventures

Today we took Nicho on a tour of Austin. John and I had never been on a "duck adventure tour" so we thought it would be fun to take Nicho . It was really cool to be riding on land and then all of a sudden in water!! Lake Austin was beautiful and we got to see lots of people having fun on their boats. We took tons of pictures of Austin landmarks and while we were downtown we got to experience a little bit of SXSW. There were so many people!! The traffic leaving downtown was not fun...especially in 5:00 traffic. My mom came into town while we were on our tour and went to visit my brother. After we were done with our tour we went over to my brother's house for some yummy barbecue and to see my mommy!

Fun at the Imax

Today we thought it would be fun to go see the "Under the Sea 3D" at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. Nicho loves going to Aquariums and can stare at a fish tank for a long time. John and I thought he would love it. Well, it went okay...not great but okay. It was loud which didn't seem to bother him however there were parts where fish would eat other fish and of course that made Nicho jump up because of the sound effects. It lasted about 45 minutes and we did have to move closer to the door in case of any outburst then we could make a run for it. Our favorite part of the show were the sea lions, they are so cute! I can't wait to take him to Sea World where he can enjoy the sea lions in person.

Cutie

We took Nicho to get his photo done on Valentine's Day at Sam's. We normally get his photos taken by Metroblue Photography, we wanted to try this company out because we liked their props. We still love you Tanya!

GROSS!!

My Nicho bear has decided that he doesn't like having a dirty diaper. I have heard from my friend Nicky that my Jewels went through that stage right before she was potty-trained. I haven't pushed N to use his potty lately...well because we have been busy. Last week when he had the diahrrea he decided to take off his diaper not once...but twice. It was not fun getting up at 3 and 4 am to strip his bed sheets, do laundry, and give bear a bath this early in the morning but it had to be done. John helped of course but I did the gross things such as the cleaning up while he did the bath and such. Yesterday John and I were in the living room while Nicho was in his room playing. I was impressed at how well he was doing because he usually has to be in the same room as we are. After a few minutes went by it got quiet so I went to check in on him. He went poo and took off his diaper AGAIN! OYE! I had to strip him down, give him a bath and disinfect all of the toys he was playing with. I ended up throwing away one of his toys because it could not be saved. John thought it was funny of course so he got "the look" for the rest of the afternoon. He did make it up to me by making me a really good margarita that night at our mexican dinner. I guess we will be practicing potty training over Spring Break.

Zilker Kite Festival

Today we met the Peden's at the Zilker Kite Festival. We took a shuttle from the Tony Burger Center to Zilker. It was Nicho's first experience on a school bus, he shouted "bus" the whole ride. When we got to Zilker we saw all of the cool kites, it was overwhelming to say the least. John and I also got our fair share of festival foods such as funnel cake, sno-cone, and roasted corn ( we shared of course), and we got hamburgers to go...I think I am going to be sick tonight. John flew the kite for about 20 minutes and then Nicho wanted to look at all of the other kites instead. Nicho fell asleep during all of the excitement. We tried to get his face painted while he was asleep and he woke up MAD! So we got his leg painted instead. We look forward to next year's Festival!

Austin Children's Museum

On Saturday Nicho and I met my sister-in-law Marisol along with my niece and nephew. Her sister Cynthia also met us with her two children. Nicho had a blast! The exhibit was "All systems Go" which was perfect because there were Capital Metro buses. The children were able to "drive" and "ride" in the pretend buses. Nicho had fun putting air in the tires and filling up the gas tank. He also enjoyed looking at the fish tank. He always goes to the fish tank when we go to ACM. I remember when I used to have to pick him up to look at the fish and now he can look at the fish on his own :( We went to eat at Chili's afterwards :)
